Coach Mentoring
The Academy for Behavior Change offers personalized, tailored mentoring for health and well-being coaches across skill levels and settings. We have a variety of formats so coaches can choose based on their individual needs.
Coaching Skills Labs
Practice. Feedback. Growth.
Coaching Skills Labs are interactive, practice-based learning experiences designed for emerging professionals and newer coaches seeking to strengthen their foundational coaching skills and deepen their confidence in real-world coaching conversations.
Each lab offers an opportunity to learn through observation, reflection, discussion, and guided skill development in a supportive environment. Sessions may include live coaching demonstrations, review of recorded coaching conversations, facilitated breakdowns of coaching strategies, and discussion of core elements of the coaching process.
Because Coaching Skills Labs are designed to be responsive to participant needs and group size, the format may vary from session to session. Participants may have opportunities to volunteer for live coaching demonstrations or engage in collaborative discussion and analysis alongside peers and facilitators.
These labs are intended to help coaches build practical skills, strengthen reflective practice, and translate coaching concepts into meaningful application.
Coaching Skills Labs are offered every third Wednesday at 9 AM PST. Open to all with a discounted rate for Academy members.
Clinical Coaching Circles
Reflect. Connect. Sustain.
Ongoing support for practicing coaches to reflect on real-world cases, strengthen clinical integration, and build community. A space for connection, reflection, and growth with peers working in healthcare and human-centered care settings. These facilitated circles offer case consultation, shared learning, and ongoing support to help you navigate the complexities of real-world coaching practice.
Clinical Coaching Circles are offered every second Tuesday at 12:30 PM PST. Free for Academy members.

Small Group Mentoring with Wendy McLaughlin
Coaches grow in mastery through guided support, reflection, and feedback.
This small-group mentor coaching experience helps coaches strengthen core competencies, refine their coaching presence, and build confidence in practice. It also supports the competency development expected by coach credentialing organizations, including the Institute for Behavior Change (IBC) and the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching.
Over four weeks, coaches engage in live coaching practice, rotating through the roles of coach, client, and observer. Each coach will coach twice for 30 minutes during the series. Each session includes focused feedback from the Mentor Coach, collaborative group discussion, and guided exploration of challenging coaching scenarios.
With no one-size-fits-all agenda, each coach can focus on the coaching skills most relevant to their development and receive tailored feedback designed to accelerate growth and mastery.
CHWC Competency Self-Assessment
The Clinical Health & Well-Being Coach Competency Self-Assessment is designed to support your professional growth by helping you reflect on your current knowledge and identify opportunities to deepen your understanding of the Clinical Health & Well-Being Coach competencies.
Unlike a practice exam, this self-assessment is a guided learning experience. Each question is mapped to one or more competency domains, allowing you to recognize where your knowledge is strong and where additional study or skill development may be beneficial. Whether you are preparing for certification or simply looking to strengthen your practice, this tool is intended to help you focus your learning with confidence and purpose.
