The Accreditation Standards
The accreditation standards define what quality looks like in programs preparing Clinical Health & Well-Being Coaches. They provide a shared foundation for evaluation while allowing flexibility in program design and educational approach.

What Drives the Standards?
Clear expectations. Evidence-based review. Professional accountability.
Core Competencies for CHWCs
The accreditation standards are grounded in a defined set of core competencies that describe the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors expected of Clinical Health & Well-Being Coaches (CHWC).
Programs are not required to replicate these competencies verbatim. Instead, they are expected to demonstrate intentional alignment between the competencies and their curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
It is essential to become familiar with the core competencies for Clinical Health & Well-Being Coaching. They are unique to the health and well-being coach who practices in clinical settings and reflect an advanced level of training to support patient needs in complex health environments.

The Accreditation Framework
While the core competencies reflect the task and knowledge of the clinical health & well-being coach, it is the standards-based framework that reflects both educational best practice and the realities of clinical and community-based care.
Programs are reviewed across eight core domains:
- Curriculum Design, Alignment, & Delivery
- Assessment of Competence
- Practicum & Supervised Clinical Experience
- Faculty Qualifications & Development
- Ethics, Scope, and Legal Compliance
- Competency Verification Through Curricular Evidence
- Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
